Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets rules for using Notify. It is part of our Terms of Service. Breach of this AUP is a breach of the Terms. We may investigate and enforce this AUP to protect recipients, our infrastructure, and our sending reputation.
2. Transactional Use
Notify is intended for transactional email related to an application or service you operate (for example password resets, receipts, invoices, onboarding, and product notifications). You must not use Notify as a bulk marketing, newsletter, or cold-outreach platform.
3. Consent and Legality
- You must have a lawful basis and all required consents to email each recipient.
- You must comply with applicable anti-spam, privacy, and electronic communications laws (including, where applicable, CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, and similar rules).
- You must honor unsubscribe, opt-out, and suppression requests for any messages that require them under law or your own policies.
- You must not send to purchased, rented, scraped, or otherwise non-permissioned lists.
4. Prohibited Content and Activities
You must not use the Service to send, host, or facilitate content or activity that:
- Is illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or involves scams, phishing, or social engineering.
- Impersonates any person, brand, or organization, or spoofs from addresses, domains, or display names you are not authorized to use.
- Infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
- Distributes malware, ransomware, spyware, or links to harmful destinations.
- Promotes or facilitates violence, terrorism, exploitation of minors, or other clearly harmful illegal activity.
- Involves high-risk abuse categories we do not allow on the platform, including but not limited to: phishing or credential harvesting; advance-fee or investment scams; counterfeit goods; unauthorized pharmaceutical or controlled-substance offers; adult content marketed deceptively; or get-rich-quick schemes.
- Attempts to bypass spam filters, reputation systems, or our abuse controls (including using disposable domains, forged headers, or deceptive link redirects for that purpose).
- Harasses, threatens, or repeatedly messages people who have asked you to stop.
5. Domains, Branding, and Authentication
- You may only send from domains and addresses you own or are authorized to use.
- You must complete domain authentication (such as SPF, DKIM, and where applicable DMARC) as required for production sending.
- You must not use Notify to send mail that mimics banks, payment providers, governments, or other brands in a way likely to confuse recipients.
- Brand-owner complaints, phishing reports, and similar notices may result in immediate holds, suspension, or termination.
6. Reputation, Volume, and Technical Abuse
- You must keep bounce, complaint, and abuse rates within levels that do not harm Notify's shared or dedicated reputation.
- You must not exceed rate limits, quotas, or attempt to evade plan limits.
- You must not probe, scan, or attack the Service, or interfere with other customers' use.
- You must not use the Service to validate large lists of harvested addresses or run dictionary/bombing attacks.
7. Our Rights
Without limiting the Terms, we may (with or without notice): throttle or block sending; place accounts in sandbox-only mode; suspend or terminate accounts; require additional verification; remove or refuse content; and report activity to mailbox providers, registrars, law enforcement, or brand owners. Fees already paid are non-refundable when we take action for AUP violations, as described in the Terms.
8. Reporting Abuse
Report suspected abuse of Notify to abuse@notify.cx. Include relevant message IDs, headers, URLs, and timestamps when possible.
9. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
